Welcome to Scarborough Medical GroupSMG

Scarborough Medical Group aims to provide high quality healthcare to the people of Scarborough and its surrounding district. We have three surgeries across Scarborough; Danes Dyke, South Cliff and Cloughton. Our doctors, nurses and practice staff are dedicated to offering our patients a professional service. With help from our practice website we aim to keep our patients up to date with all the latest news and information about our practice.

To further protect our staff and patients the surgery would request that anyone entering the building has a face covering in place. This can be a mask or a simple covering such as a scarf. Thank you for your co-operation.

COVID-19 Vaccination Programme Information

We are thrilled to be able to announce that we are involved in Wave 1 of the COVID vaccination programme that commences today in 100 GP practices across the country. Our teams have been working tirelessly over the last week to logistically plan for this programme. We have been busy contacting those over 80’s patients who are eligible for the vaccine over the last couple of days but with limited numbers of vaccine in this first wave we will sadly not be able to include everyone at this stage. Please understand patients will be called forward by admin booking teams and you should not contact the surgery to try and book these appointments.

We are working with colleagues in a network of three other practices in Scarborough and Filey. Due to the very fragile nature of the vaccine will only be able to give this at one site as it cannot be moved once delivered. Filey Surgery has been nominated as the site for our Practice network. We are therefore deploying staff from all departments throughout this week to Filey to support the vaccination of our patients. Inevitably this means we will have lower numbers of staff in the Practice to handle other enquiries. Therefore, if your query is not urgent please consider contacting us another time. Please also understand that our community pharmacies are excellent sources of help and assistance with minor ailments or injuries.

Thank you for your understanding whilst we undertake this highly important programme.

COVID-19 Update:

Patients are reminded that we are extremely busy and need to ensure that our most vulnerable patients are able to contact us easily. All non-urgent queries should, where you are able, be submitted via our online consultation request that can be found on our website.

Please be advised that the Practice is not currently running at its full staff capacity and this naturally adds to the pressures the Practice faces in handling high volumes of enquiries.

  • If you have symptoms associated with coronavirus including a new continuous cough and a high temperature, you are advised to stay at home for 7 days. DO NOT book a GP appointment or attend your GP Practice.

  • If your symptoms are serious, or get worse, NHS 111 has an online coronavirus service that can tell you if you need further medical help and advise you what to do.

  • Only call 111 direct if you cannot go online, or are advised to do so by the online service.
